Multi purpose Lantern!

Hello friends...today's project is inspired by the oncoming festival, Diwali. I have made this multi purpose Lantern using some empty foam tape rolls and acetate sheets that comes with the packaging! Multi purpose cos it serves as a goodie box, tealight holder and the lid can be converted to a wall hanging! so 3 looks from 1 product!!!
 Here it is....
I have used black handmade paper with some gold embossing pattern on it to cover the rolls. The acetate sheet has been textured with the basket weave embossing folder and have stained it with glass colors(the photograph has not captured it) .
The rim of the acetate has the scallop border punch lace  on CS and laced with some glitter dust.
The lid of the lantern is the most interesting with loads of elements.
TH weathered clock with gold embossing and some hand made and distressed flowers using cheery Lynn and Joy crafts die and some leaves form the decorative element around the golden idol of Goddess Lakshki(goddess of wealth).

I have heat embossed the sentiment in black and tucked that too! Some golden beads to decorete the base of the lantern and a tealight inside with its cover completes the look!
This is going to my friend loaded with some homemade chocolates too...

Happy Diwali to all of you.

Sshhhh!

My daughter is all of 4yrs old and has outgrown her baby quilt which is
pink and white...so i have decided to hang it on the bedroom door!
The co-ordinated freak that I am, i decided i will make a matching door knob hanger to go with it!

So here is the altered door knob hanging made from an old liquor box carton!!!

The first layer is a PP from K&Company and then is the solid CS in white on which i have stamped the image using Micia stamps and colored with distress stamps. I have used the ek border punch on the CS and distressed the edges too.

Once the CS was adhered, i hand stitched the pink and white checkered fabric to the lace to form a trim and decorated it with pearls and buttons.
The flowers on the right top corners are die cuts and inked and laced with silver shimmer dust which gives a lovely glittering look to the flowers!

The pink rose holding the sentiment is heat embossed in black and colored with distress inks and the stamp used is from Hero Arts.
Lastly, i have stuck pink bling on the knob hole and the cute, shabby chic door knob hanger is ready!!!

Do let me know how it looks...my daughter has just said "wow Amma"...that means a lot!

Festive cutlery stand!!!

We have a dinner invitation this weekend and the same friend had asked me to do a cutlery stand which can accomadate spoons, forks and knives. He dint want the regular looking one's available in the market. He has been a wellwisher of my crafting talents and my recycling efforts...so i had to do something really special!

Since Diwali is round the corner, i thought i will make something festive which will add a lot of color to the dining table and will end up being a conversation piece(hope so!!!) when he entertains guests in that space...
My recycled ingredients here are a couple of empty tissue rolls(hard roll) and a CD!

Firstly layered the rolls with some texture paste and colored with them yellow acrylic paints and gave more texture with chicken mesh and yellow ochre paint! The rolls have been varnished also.

The blooms are all hand made with looots of distress inks and gold glitter in the edges!
With some gold ribbons and buttons I gave the holder the much needed festive look! I heat embossed the "Thank you" and layered it on green CS and glitter foam backing and tucked it neatly admist the foliage.
The CD is well sandwitched with some scrap upholstery fabric on the top and some felt cloth on the base so that there is some grip.

I couldn't resist the temptation of placing the entire cutlery range in it and clicking a photograph...so here it is!!!!

How do you like it??? I just loove it and must shamelessly admit that i am having a hard time parting with it!!!
Have you ever felt that way...let me know.

" Framed" on the brick wall...

I enjoyed the construction(literally) of this project "brick by brick" cos the foundation for this is a liquor bottle carton! Dont believe me???...have a look at this!!!

The color scheme orange and black just nailed it for me to do this absolute vintage frame on a brick wall!

The flowers are all handmade with cheery Lynn die,Shasta Daisy(B310) and can you see the sweet l'le oranges from the cheery Lynn olive branches(B147)!!!
Hope you can see the texture on the bricks. Here is a brief on the making...i applied granite finish texture paste on a piece of cardstock and painted it orange. once it was dry cut them to small pieces and distressed the edges with black soot and voila..my handcut bricks were ready to be laid on the wall!

After that it was easy to finish the rest of the project. There are 3 layers excluding the base of the carton!!! First the brown cardstock, then the white CS on which the bricks are laid and then the PP. The flowers and leaves on the left side are all on the edge! The other side of the carton is still empty...let's see what i manage to do there!

Hope you all liked this one...Do let me know.

3 L's

This is one project i enjoyed putting all pieces together cos the challenges that have inspired me are like that!

I scanned my entire kitchen and found this unused "hot Pad" (wooden) and it struck me that this can be the base of the project and here is the " altered hot pad" !!! for http://lessology.blogspot.in/2013/10/lessology-challenge-30-kitchen-raid.html

I have not used much white in my earlier projects and thanks to Mansi and their challenge it has helped me come out of my comfort Zone and am actually liking and comfortable with white too!!!
http://dcamchallenge.blogspot.in/2013/10/challenge-3-photo-inspiration.html

Layering and loading embellies in my project is my all time fav and i loved doing the same for the challenge at Lulupu and

http://lulupu.blogspot.in/2013/10/lulupu-challenge-18-load-it-up-some-news.html

And lastly the Micia stamp that i have used is my very first stamp and love it sooo much and i think this "L'le girl without the nose" deserved this elaborate and detailed makeover!!

So,with all these elements, i have done this wall hanging which has the base layer as the wooden hot pad (gessoed), 2 layers of PP, gessoed corrugated cardboard, silver net and then finally white lace and then sits the L'le girl!

The blood red blooms are handmade using Tim Holtz tattered florals die and other embellies like the beads, bells and wool, buttons and bows are all color co ordinated(white and red).
Lastly,i wanted some cute fun sentiments and came with these "3 L's "...which are stamped and colored too!
I am in love with one as it has a lot of my fav things...how about you? Do leave your comments...
Thanks for stopping by, Happy Crafting.

Cuppa flowers and wishes

Back from a well spent holiday with parents and couldn't wait to start on this project.
This is an altered teacup and spoon and have used a cd for the base! There are layers of lace, doily and flourishes and then the cup sits atop with all the lovely blue flowers all handmade and inked and edged with silvery glitter too!

There was so much to do in this altered cup and spoon...loads of silver embelies, different types, colors and techniques of butterflies, glitter silver net, bells, charms and silver chain which have added so much of bling to this project.
Love the way the sentiment tag hangs from the cup and the "congrats" tag peeping from the foliage on the spoon...it was sheer delight working on this makeover.

I am planning to give this to my niece who is going abroad to pursue her PhD!
Please let me know how this cuppa looks..with flowers, butterflies and foliage spilling from all sides!!!!

Altered CD hanging

This project started with a need to wish a friend on her new venture. She was opening a store and i din't want give flowers or a simple card and then decided I will combine the 2, and make an altered cd hanging which can greet her customers everyday at the shop!

The cd has 4 layers, corrugated cardboard,PP cicle, silver doily (almost not visible) and lastly lace at the back!!!
Instead of the regular good luck sentiment, i had the sentiment"Enjoy the Journey" as the focal point and worked around it.
The handmade blooms in shades of blue gave a cool, refreshing feel with a cute little heat embossed pink butterfly near it! Lots of leaves, flourishes and branches give it a lovely floral bouquet appearance! some bling and a cute little bow completed the CD make over.

I then pleated a white lace around the back of the cd and hung some silver bells from the base. For the top hanging, i strung some pearls and colored beads that matched the blooms.

The other side of the cd looks pretty too with lace behind,so i just covered the center with layers of CS and stamped the handmade seal and finished it off with my signature!

I hope my friend likes it and it adds color to her store  and greets her customers too! How about you all???? Do you like it...please do leave your comments.
