Journal it!

Hello Crafters...
Am here with a post after a holiday break! A quick post so I can share this lovely journal/ organizer that I made for myself!

I have felt the need to own one, especially while travelling so that I can jot down what comes to my mind and also keep some creatives treasures that I find anywhere.
I also wanted something handy and compact with less embellishments cos it fits snuggly into my handbag and I dont have to worry about the embellishments falling off! Well, it just has to handle the wear and tear!!!!

Keeping all these pointers in mind, this is what I made.....

The journal cover is made from empty cereal carton and some left over chipboard pieces that came with some packaging. This made the cover really sturdy and have used layers of scrap PP's from my stash.
Since it was going to be a mixed media, i dint bother about the colors and patterns in the
paper, gave it a coat of watered gesso and took my Prima stencils.
I have given crackle effect with the stencil using Walnut stain and the clocks are stenciled with texture paste. The back and front cover has been aged using  distress inks walnut stain and black soot and has random script stamping too.

I have also dropped in some photo inks, deep yellow and light blue and have rubbed it in with my fingers to give some shading. This has really brought out some ageing in the cover and I just loved the look!

I have used torn corrugated cardboard as book corners  and have gesssoed and inked it too!
The little butterflies are heat embossed and fo embellishments have used the pocket clock die cut and some feathers. I have applied glossy accents for the clock to pop it up and also stuck a resin border in light blue at the base!

The papers and pockets inside the book are all pages from an old diary and nor tebooks and the pockets from envelopes that came with the dies I purchased online! There are 4 signatures inside, all inked up and has random script stamping in different colors!

Do you see those cute round things popping out from the boo??? Well, those are the lovely paper clips that I won for a challenge from PPS nd am so glad it is serving its purpose as an embellishment too.
Coming to the part I enjoyed so much...and that's sewing the signatures together. And after that I thought of decorating the spine with some danglers...took out all my glass beads and baubles and strung them together with some vintage metallic charms and LO! I just looooooove these things dangling every time I pick them up!!!

I have also tied small pieces of laces, trims and bakers twines( remains from other projects) to the spine to add some color and glamour! The closure for the book is a paper clip and a black chord tied with some charms here again and there is loooots of room for expansion in this book.

I just cant wait to start penning down in this book and am happy to take it along with me in my next bout of travel in a few days to come!
That' s pretty much it...Do let me know your views on this.

Thank you so much for stopping by...
Until then,
Happy Crafting and Re cycling.
Hugs.

Mother's Day card with an add on!

Hello Crafters,
I quick post today...made a card for my mom. Am visiting her next week and thought it would be nice to gift her something different!
This card is inspired by the Indian traditions of the colorful jewellery and sarees and my mother for one, likes both of them!

So I have chosen this bright red CC which I have embossed. The card base is Kraft paper and the border punch folds up on the red CC!
The paisley pattern is a cutout from a lovely sheet I bought from Templetree. The roses are handmade using TH tattered florals and placed it under a mat made from the same EK success border edge punch.

I wanted a simple sentiment and dint want it too obvious on the card, so just slipped it like a tag under the border.
Have added a few pearls too...again a woman's friend, if not the best.
How can I just give a card, so I made THIS to go with card!

Please let me know what you think about this. Thank you soo much for stopping by.

Through the " Window"

Hello Crafters,
What a satisfying day! Done with a mega project of altering a wooden crate which has been lying with me for ages, even before I started Crafting!

I guess it had to see THIS day...I have spent 2 creative days with this crate and love every corner of it! here are a few early stages of the makeover, sticking some corrugated cardboard here and there...

The PP and chicken mesh texture and random stamping. I have created a window for photographs which is open on one side, so it can be changed.
It has a lot of special elements in it...basically a vintage style with bursts of citrus colors!
I think it has brought out the best in me...for it was quite challenging for me not to go overboard too!

I have used this lovely PP's from DCWV...Botanicals Stack and CC from DCWV...citrus cardstock.
The combination is Yummy and beautiful!!!

This is going to be a picture heavy post, so I am going to cut down on my  blah blah.
Enjoy the tour and waiting eagerly for your feedback on this. Am really excited and so happy I did justice to this vintage crate.
There are two sides to it and had a lovely time playing around with pattern papers and making lots of handmade blooms and other embellies too. Have a look....
A hanging view of the crate side 1...

hanging view side 2...

How about putting a bottle of wine and gifting someone...perfect isn't it???
The next day when the wine is over, just put your favourite show plant into it! cool eh???
The lid opens at the top to slide anything inside!Lots of stampind and I have stamped the current year too, so that I get to know how long this will remain Vintage!

View of the empty crate. The lovely sheer curtain is made from the transparent wrap that accompanies  a flower bouquet!Do you see a tag hiding behind the curtain. The sheer curtain does not block the view, yet gives a delicate look to this side.
When the Led candle glows...romantic eh???
A closer look at the Botanical PP...lovely right....the bird has been highlighted with glossy accents.
The blooms are hand made, heat embossed and die cut sunflower, all together. Do you see the tag clipped in with a mini peg?
The side view of the carton...lots of texture and stamping and some coconut shell buttons.
The front of the tags...
The back with lovely sentiments from Stampendous.
Thank you for your patience...I would like to go on and on...hope I have not missed out on any details.Happy mothers day.

Masculine card

Hello People,
A quick post today on a masculine card! Couldn't stop myself from doing this...
Masculine theme is all about textures and the photo inspiration from CSCC has the perfect colors and textures for this theme.

Distressed the edges of the card and inked with faded jeans distress inks.
I have created denim bricks on the card and heat embossed the TH vintage car in black and also the sentiment. The sentiment is mounted on red CC and has black metal brads.

For further embellishment, have added blue and red buttons in the corner.
It's so much fun working on this casual card and am planning to give this to my husband who recently shifted division in his company and will be moving to an office closure to HOME!!!!!
Isn't that a promotion too???
Do you like this????
Thanks so much for stopping by..

Altered mini hat

Hello Crafters...
Back again in my comfort zone of altering and re cycling! Yes...today's project is a mini hat that I made using empty brown tape ring!

I wanted to make a mini hat with a display on it so that it becomes a cute room décor piece. So, it is a hanging hat!

I have used the beautiful PP from Recollections "As pretty as a Peacock" in co ordinating colors for the top and base of hat.

For the top, I ran the PP through a floral embossing folder from Itsy Bitsy and distressed it by lightly sanding it on the embossed areas .

The lid of the hat is cut from an empty cereal carton and I have this cute stamped image which I colored with distress inks. The sentiment is from Inkadinkado and the flowers are all handmade. A closer look at the image and you can see that I have used purple brads for the girls hairdo along with silver stickles.
The net bling gives a classy look to the hat.

Coming to the center ring of the hat,I have tied a pick lace at the base and made the loopy flower with home made twine! yes, it was a plain white twine and I added wild preserves distress inks in spots.

The loopy flower is in 2 sizes and I have layered it with a mini rose center. The while blooms are CLD daisy die and the lily too id handmade using felt and inked around the edges.
The base of the hat or the rim is using CLD doily die and it just fits the size of the brown ring to form a lovely hat!

There you go...my hanging hat is ready and makes a unique décor piece. I plan to make a few more so that it can be hung at various level on the wall.
What do you think???
Thank you sooo much for stopping by.

Feminine card!

Hello Crafters...
Yes, I am here with a feminine card today with looooooooots of layers and loads of embellies! Love challenges which gives you the freedom to load the card, especially if it layered, there is so much scope to insert so many things!

The inspiration comes from the Recollections paper pack "pretty as a peacock" and have stuck to a mono choromatic theme with just peacock feathers distress inks.

There are in all 8 layers in this card starting from the base white CC ( the edges have been heat embossed in silver),the PP from Recollections, Corrugated cardboard(gessoed),silver net,CLD Doilie, haberdashery dry embossed top panel, a gross grain ribbon on the base and then the sentiment label! LOOOOve it!

The haberdashery embossing folder has all the required feminine elements and I only had to add the dimensional embellies to enhance it! The flowers are all handmade using CLD Shasta daisy die and hope you can see the pompom flowers which I have made using an old, discarded measuring tape! There is an old bobbin which has been gessoed too and has a lovely lace on it and it just sits perfectly complimenting the theme!

The wooden buttons are from My Minds Eye and the stick pins in the same color theme is hand made and the bakers twine bow completes the left corner.
The top right corner has the ornate silver corner from Joy crafts and the CLD doilie.
I love the sentiment from Stampendous and its just so perfect for that special person you want to give!

I am really happy with the way this feminine, layered, shabby chic monochromatic card has come out. The extra ingredient here is loots of love from me! I think its a perfect mothers day card!
Please let me know what you think????
Thank you soooo much for stopping by.
