I have full length video tutorial here.

Here are some pics of my experiment...

Mothers Day...Journal page

Hello crafty folks...
Its been a while that I worked on my journal. I have told myself I will start off with atleat once a month now! This is a real stress buster for me  I don't have to worry about the 360 degrees of the project unlike my other ones, lol!
We celebrate mothers day hare on May 14th and I have quite a few projects lined up for that.
My first one is here with a video tutorial, if you would like to see.
For today, I have journal page. This journal was actually a set of my childhood story books that I have sewn together .

Sorry, I have no pics of the work in progress, got too carried away while working!

First I created textures on the page using crumpled tissue, some Sizzix dies, stencil and crackle texture paste from Deco art. I have used the heart stencil from TimHoltz.

I also adhered "MOM" which is also a Sizzix alphabets die.

Once the texture on the page was ready, I gave a coat of white gesso and took my pigment powders and water mister to add colors to the background.
I have used bright pink, bottle green, Teal and burnt umber pigment powders from Niro Craft (an India Brand).

The colors were a choice keeping mothers day, femininity, lively, colorful in mind! I hope you get what I am saying. I wanted the page to reflect life though I had to bring in the brown as I am a big time Vintage lover!

The focal image is a printout and I have distressed the edges. The same has been mounted on top of white gauze and I have created a layer so that a tag can be inserted on the right top corner.

The tag too is a joy craft die cur and I have stamped this lovely quote from stamplorations.

I have given some white splats on the page and inked the edges of the page with vintage photo.
The embellishment for this page the stamped flower using the Tim Holtz stamp and I have colored using DI.

Below the image I have the metal pin that says "thoughts" and I have little heart dangling there!

I just went with the flow of the project. I loved how it turned out in terms of the colors! The image too is such a soft vintage one gives life to this page.

Wishing all moms across the globe a very "HAPPY MOTHERS DAY ".

Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome to my page today! Its the beginning of another month and  I would like to share my DT project for Rhedd's Creative Spirit where the challenge is easy peasy...Anything Goes, altered art or mixed media!
I have recycled a champagne glass packaging box! I have so many of these, lol!

I have used chalk paints from deco ert for this project

Once painted, I have stuck book pages on the top and have decoupaged some floral tissue using modge podge.

I the took some stencils and have used gelatos to give some texture.

I also have blended some colors in the back ground.
All this has been sealed with a matte medium.

The front closure of the box, I have stenciled with texture paste and then rubbed in metallic lustre.

This is how the inside looks. Now this is a multi purpose keepsake box!

I hope you do take the time to play along and also see what the team has in store for you.

"SPRING" in a box!

Welcome to my page today!
I am here to share with you my DT project with Rhedd's Creative Spirit. It's always anything Goes..Mixed media or altered art.
I have an altered box for today's project and yes, of course I recycled something...
a sweet box.

I was so keen on my new experiment, I forgot to take pics of the WIP! Excuse me for that.
This is how the completed piece looks after the makeover.

I first gave the box a coat of gesso and then decoupaged this pretty napkin that I had.

I then took some air dry clay and flattened it out and covered a portion of the box and curled the edges.
When it was still semi dry, I took out a rubber stamp and stamped on it. This gave some lovely impression.

Once the whole thing dried, I took out some acrylic paints to compliment the tissue and started coloring.
On the clay area, I applied green and then wiped off immediately with a damp cloth, to give a distressed washed look.
I also fixed a closure using brads in the front.

I the stamped this quote from Paper Artsy and lined it up on the top.

Do you want to see what's inside???

I gave the box some partition with cardboard and now I use it to store my crafty knick knacks.
Hope you do take the time to play along and do drop by to see what the team has in store for you.

Until my next creative journey,
Happy crafting and recycling.

"Spring" wall hanging with PLAID stencil

Hello... and welcome to my page.
I am sharing my DT project with Crafters Corner and today I am showcasing some of the PLAID chalk pints and their Birds stencil.
This what I started off with....

I had an empty mdf plank with me and decided to play with it.

Here is how the plain plank looks after my play with the paints!

With "spring" being the flavor I decided to have little chirpeees outside my studio and hence went ahead  making a sign board. I dint want the usual "welcome" sign and decided to do it this way.
I have used a range of chalk paints from PLAID here and also their birds stencil!

I have a full length tutorial here on how to create the FAUX PALETTE look with paints.

I so love these 2 little birds...

I did some coloring and shading using their Multi surface paints.

To finish off, I added some color splats and then sealed it with the outdoor mate sealer from Plaid.

This is how they look outside my studio!

I made a hanging planter with a little coconut shell so the birds feel at home!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I would like to play along these challenges...

TIOT -Botanical
Simon Monday Challenges- Things with wings
STAMPlorations- Ag mixed media
Rubber Dance blog- anything spring

Thursday, 23 March 2017

Good morning!
It’s THURSDAY and as promised I am here with a PLAID inspiration. Before that, I want to share a good news with you… I am now the EXCLUSIVE DESIGNER for PLAID at CRAFTERS CORNER and I will be here every Thursday with a different product highlight, tutorial and projects using PLAID products. Isn’t that exciting and if that is not enough I have something more to add to the excitement…which I will reveal at the END OF THE POST.
So let’s start with the Product for today…It’s the MODGE MELTER and MELT STICKS.
This new melter from Plaid has a unique design and body. It has a built in stand and a silicon body for easy grip and also has a trigger on the top which enables easy flow of the melted wax on pressing!
The unique design enables you to hold the melter nozzle down and at the same time press the trigger on top. Its as easy as that.
I have used the MILK GLASS WHITE melt sticks for this project. The stick needs to be inserted while the melter is ON and after 5mins you can see the was oozing out and you are ready to start. I took out all the silicon molds that I had and started filling them.
Here I have inserted a few brads immediately after the wax is squeezed, this way the brad gets a hold into the wax and is securely fixed!
Isn’t that a great way to make your own CUSTOM BRADS!
As always there are sticky issues when you handle waxes and you can see a lot of drippage on the mat. But look closely and I have used the SILICON MAT too from Modge Podge and removing these sticky residues is childs play. Just pull it off!
Here are all the molds filled up with milky white melts…
After 5mins of cooling down, it is an easy pull from the mold and here is how all of them look together.
I am loving pure white look…given a choice, I would love to leave them like this but I thought I will experiment in the coloring too…not restricting myself only to acrylics.
Here I have used ALCHOHOL INKS to color…I just poured a few drops directly on top and just gave a swirl and let it dry naturally.
I like the natural shading of light and dark tones of the alcohol inks!
Here I have used FOLK ART acrylic paints and have also done some 2 tomes and shading. These are bright and colorful.
Here too I have used the acrylics but as wash and given a distressed look. You know by now how much I love this effect.
BUT my personal favorite is using the CHALK PAINTS to give and antique and vintage look.
Have a look at these aged, by gone findings…I mean, they look priceless!
So let me know which style of coloring is your fancy? There are still a lot more which I have not colored and would like to use them just as is or I don’t know…lets see( wink, wink).
Here are the finished projects with these colored ones….
I made a few fridge magnets and also a little one with a paper clip to hold tiny paper scraps.
I am always looking for paper bits to write drown my grocery list, lol! This is sure going to help me.
I also made a pair of VINTAGE PAPER CLIPS for my Journals. I love making those.
And here I made a neck piece for my little princess…she is growing up and I thought I will make something other than the girlie pink, lol!
And finally the brads…ready to hit any of my projects. So handy these are!
These magnets do add color to my fridge…how I wish I had a white one!
So lovelies, that brings us to the end of this product highlight. Do let me know if you have any queries relating to this product and I will get back to you asap.

As promised here is the other excitement I want to share with you.

I urge you all to try this product and share your makes and inspiration using THE PRODUCT OF THE WEEK, the modge melts. You can then share all your makes with #playwithplaid until next Thursday.

Next week I will see you with another product highlight .

Until my next crative journey,
Happy crafting and recycling,
